Alan Lee Graziani, born on January 10, 1943, to Orlando and Florence Graziani, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025.
Raised in Grosse Ile, Michigan, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, Alan’s love for life on the water began early. He attended the University of Arizona, where he met the love of his life, Alice, with whom he shared many joyful years until her passing in 2017.
Alan spent most of his life on Grosse Ile and at his beloved Florida beach house, where countless memories were made with family and friends. A proud member of the Grosse Ile Yacht Club, Alan was a skilled boater, a natural storyteller, a dog lover, and a true friend to many. He could build or fix just about anything, had a keen eye for design, and appreciated the simple pleasures — especially a rum (Admiral Nelson's preferred) and Coke promptly at 5 p.m. Whether out on the water or gathered around the table, he filled every space with laughter and countless stories.
His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Alan is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice, and his older brother, Lyn (2010). He is survived by his younger brother and friend, Jay (Jan) Graziani, and his two sons, Kevin (Hope Shovein) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, and Marc (Carey) of Huntington Woods, Michigan. Alan was the proud grandfather of four beautiful granddaughters —Lauryn, Emma, Natalie, and Olivia — who brought him great pride and happiness. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Peter (Louel) Larkin, two nieces, two nephews, and his devoted dog, Beulah.
In keeping with Alan’s wishes, there will not be a traditional funeral. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate his life and the many stories he leaves behind.
We will miss him dearly — his laughter, his stories, and his steady hand at the helm.
