Alan Edward Jones

With hearts full of sorrow but also deep gratitude for a life well lived, we remember and honor Alan Edward Jones, who passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan. Alan was born on April 12, 1957, in the welcoming community of St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada—a place that shaped the early years of a man whose spirit touched all those lucky enough to know him.

Throughout his journey, Alan was known for his resounding laughter, quick wit, and an innate talent for bringing smiles to the faces around him. His ability as a funny jokester was more than a trait; it was a gift he shared generously, brightening homes and hearts wherever he went. With a love for boating, fishing, and the great outdoors, Alan found serenity and adventure in equal measure beneath open skies and across glittering waters.

Alan’s deepest joys were found in the bonds he nurtured with family and friends. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Jones, whose partnership brought both love and laughter into the fabric of his life. Alan was a guiding and caring presence to his step-sons, William (Alicia) Grouly and Nicholas (Amanda) Sherman, and step-daughter, April (Chuck) Metzdian, supporting them as a steadfast friend and trusted confidant. His legacy of humor and warmth continues through his siblings: brother Gary, sisters Linda, Penni, Patti, and Donna, as well as brother Robert. The circle of lives touched by Alan expands even further through his many nieces and nephews, whose stories will surely be filled with fond “Uncle Alan” memories for years to come.

While Allan’s passing is mourned deeply, his memory is cherished dearly by all those who survive him. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Hilda Jones, and his dear sister Sharon, as well as countless cherished friends who greeted him once again with open arms.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the funeral service taking place the same evening at 6:00 p.m.

Alan Edward Jones will be dearly missed yet lovingly remembered—as a man of humor, an outdoorsman at heart, and, above all, a devoted family man. His spirit will linger in the laughter of loved ones, in fishing lines cast on quiet mornings, and in every shared story that brings forth a smile. He was a friend indeed in the time of need. May his memory forever bring warmth and joy to those he held most dear.
