Ruth Fairchild, a cherished matriarch and devoted nurse, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in Dearborn, Michigan, at the age of 88. Born on October 18, 1937, in Newcomb, Tennessee, Ruth lived a life rich with creativity, compassion, and warmth that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Her professional journey was one marked by dedication, as she devoted herself to nursing within the Romulus Public Schools. A proud alumna of the University of Tennessee and St. Mary College of Nursing in Knoxville, Tennessee, Ruth earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, embodying the spirit of care throughout her illustrious career.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ruth was a beacon of creativity; she found joy in crafting, particularly in ceramics and embroidery, producing many treasured keepsakes that her family will cherish forever. She was a gardener of unparalleled talent, renowned for cultivating the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Ruth was often regarded as the reliable anchor of her family—any time someone sought assistance or an answer, the immediate response was always, "Have you called Ruth?"

Her generosity extended beyond her hands and garden; she was a prolific sender of greeting cards, ensuring that no occasion or holiday went unrecognized. Each card she dispatched carried a bit of her love and consideration, embodying her belief that everyone deserved a reminder of their importance. Ruth was also known for her sharp sense of style, always donning elegant attire adorned with carefully selected jewelry and accessories, showcasing her vibrant personality.

She takes with her the love of her grandchildren, Chizuru (Cory), Musashi, Leah (Ryan), Nicholas, and Crystal, who will remember her not only for her creativity but also for the love and encouragement she bestowed upon them. Her siblings, include her late sister Kathleen, Wilma, Debbie, Betty, and Nancy, and brothers, the late Darrell, Harold, Gary, and Larry; they also have memories filled with her laughter and kindness.
