Andy Adkins Jr., age 69 of Newport, passed away on August 21, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He fought the battle of his life dealing with cancer. Born on September 25, 1956 in Monroe, he was the son of Andy and Mary (Brant) Adkins Sr. Andy married Jenell (Kiado) Adkins on October 12, 1974. They shared 51 wonderful years together.Early on, Andy discovered the value of hard work and dedication. This spirit served him well through more than 30 years at Ford Motor Company, where he was respected for both is skill and the steady, supportive presence he brought to the workplace.Beyond the factory floor Andy possessed a unique gift: an innate ability to see the potential in everything around him. He approached each project- whether building, remodeling, or repairing- with patience, craft, and unwavering attention to detail. His hands created, restored, and fixed, but it was Andy’s heart and unspoken wisdom that truly mended and bound together the people he loved and the spaces they called home.After retirement, Andy and Jenell enjoyed spending time in Florida and their cottage in Michigan. They cherished the many fun times they had with family and friends.Andy’s family was the center of his world. He is survived by his wife Jenell, who was his partner in every sense. Together they built a life rich in love, support, and enduring companionship. His legacy continues through his sons: Joe (Stacy), Jason (Sarah), and Andy III (Sarah), each of whom carries forward the generosity and kindness instilled by their father.Andy was also a cherished Papa to Dakota (Alexis), Andrik, Colten, Jarrett, Drew, and Rylie. He found immense pride and delight in their accomplishments and growth, always cheering them on with a quiet smile and words of encouragement.He is also remembered by his siblings: his sisters Rose (Buck) Ellison and Marge Putman, and his brother Leonard (Margie) Adkins. Their life long bond provided strength, laughter, and shared history- a testament to the enduring power of family. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents as well as 5 siblings: Andrea Adkins, Nathalie Leach, Kay Donna Free, Gary Adkins, and Phillip Adkins.To all who knew Andy, he was the source of comfort and inspiration. His gentle wisdom, his ability to repair not only things but hearts, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Andy’s story does not end with is departure. It lives on in the laughter at family gatherings, the handiwork present in every lovingly repaired corner of his home, and the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet excellence that will inspire generations to come.
