Antoinette M. Bomia

Antoinette M. Bomia, age 92 of Monroe, passed away peacefully into heaven Sunday, July 3, 2016 at MediLodge of Monroe with her family by her side. Born in Monroe, Antoinette was the daughter of Vincensio and Rosina (Mariano) Rossi. At the young age of four, Antoinette's mother passed away and with her sister Mary were raised by the Sisters of IHM until their mid teens when they were reunited with their father and brother. Mary was not only her sister, but also her best friend. On February 9, 1946, Vincensio Rossi walked his daughters, Antoinette and Mary down the aisle of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, Michigan to join the in marriage with two brothers, Clifford and Norman, respectively. A dedicated homemaker Antoinette also worked as a Nurse's Aide for both Monroe Hospital and Beach Nursing Home. She was a faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Her hobbies included shopping, craft shows and reading, especially the Readers Digest. She had a welcoming smile, warm heart, joyful personality, but most of all she was a wonderful mother. Most important to Antoinette was her family, with an extra special endearment for her grandchildren. She was a mother who loved her children unconditionally. When her children had surgery or was ill she was right there to take care of them, help around their house or do whatever she could to help in their recovery. Her grandchildren loved to spend the night with Mimi, because they knew she would pretty much let them do what they wanted. Antoinette leaves to cherish her memory, Clifford, her husband of the past 70 years; children: Judith (Bob) Goins of Temperance, Kathleen (Skip) Sommers of Monroe, Michael(Wanda) Bomia of Newport and Susan Cousino of Petersburg;7grandchildren: Jeffrey Coolman, Kevin Sommers: Justin (Rachael) Sommers, Michael (Nicole) Bomia, Rebecca Bomia, Clint Cousino and Angie (Jared) Kimple; as well as 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Pasquale Rossi; a sister Mary Rose Bomia, an infant sister and a son-in-law John Cousino. The family would like to thank the staffs of Alice Lorraine, MediLodge and ProMedica Hospice for the loving care given to Antoinette and to Father Philip Ching for his prayers and comforting their mother, guiding her to heaven in her last hour of life.
