Barbara A. "GG" Gilbert

Barbara A. “GG” Gilbert, born August 16, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 14, 2026, at her home in Trenton, Michigan.

Barbara built a life centered on love, laughter, and caring for others. For 30 years, she served as a Dietary Aide at Symphony Applewood in Woodhaven, Michigan, where she was adored by both the staff and residents. She brought that same warmth and devotion into every part of her life. Her family was her great love, and she was happiest when surrounded by the people she cherished most.

She loved doing jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed crafting and making decorations, finding joy in creating things that brightened the lives of those around her. Barbara loved to laugh and have a good time, and her funny, sarcastic sense of humor was one of the many qualities that made her unforgettable. She had a special way of making everyone feel equally important to her, and she treated people as if they were her very best friend. She was the person others turned to, the steady and loving presence who held everything and everyone together. To all who knew and loved her, her passing leaves a space that can never truly be filled.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Travis; her children, Miranda and her husband Timothy, Nathan and his wife Katelyn, and Caitlin and her husband Steven; her grandchildren, Joe and his wife Eilisch, Justin and his wife Angel, Olivia, Anna, Maranda, Shane, Lily, Thea, Nevaeh, Nova, and Jr. “Chubbs”; and her great-grandchild, Lennon. She is also survived by her sisters, Diane and her husband Ron, Kathy and her husband Jesse, Jeanette and her husband Ron, and Tina. She is also survived by many other loving family and friends who are bound together by the love she gave so freely, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her son, Shane; her father and mother, Benjamin and Olivia (nee: Murdock) Gable; her sisters, Ophelia, Linda, Edaline, and Melba; and her brother, Wayne.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183. A Celebration of Life will take place there the same day at 5:00 p.m.

Barbara will be remembered for the joy she brought, the comfort she offered, and the way she made people feel seen, loved, and welcome. Her legacy lives on in the family she treasured and in the many lives she touched with her kindness, humor, and generous heart.
