Bertha (Bert, Bea) Folgmann of Grosse Ile, MI, 83, passed away at her assisted living residence in Trenton, MI on March 27, 2021. The family is planning a memorial service later in the summer. Bertha was born to Ernest and Lillian (Dyer) Dayles in Detroit, Michigan on December 22, 1937. She grew up in Lincoln Park, MI where she met her husband, Gerald (Jerry). They have been happily married for over 65 years. Bertha was in 8th grade when she began dating Jerry. They dated all throughout school and married on June 25, 1955. Their marriage exemplified true love and commitment. Bertha and Jerry moved to Detroit, MI after their marriage. Besides Lincoln Park and Detroit, she lived in Southgate, Trenton, Riverview, Dearborn Heights, Hiroshima, Japan, and finally Grosse Ile. Bertha held many jobs throughout her life including Neisner’s Dime Store, Michigan Bell, and Hudson’s. She worked most of her career as a realtor for Real Estate One. Her biggest accomplishment was raising five children. She loved attending their sporting events. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids’ sports and the Detroit Tigers (Al Kaline was her favorite). She loved spending time at the family cottage in Gladwin, MI, playing in her Bridge Club, traveling, and shopping. In addition to her husband, Jerry, Bertha is survived by her five children; Mark (Lori) Folgmann; Rick (Sandy) Folgmann; Chris (Cheryl) Folgmann; Lee (Crystal) Folgmann; and Linda (Don) Lippert. She is also survived by a sister Darlene (Terry) Trawick; brother-in-law Ray Stutler; sister-in-law Laura (Roger) Swain; sister-in-law Eileen (Joseph Donald) Fisher; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Ernest Dayles, sister, Sharon Stutler, nephew, Brian Swain, and great granddaughter, Ella Folgmann. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trenton, MI or Hospice of Michigan.
