Betty J. Brzezan

Betty Jean Brzezan was born on July 13, 1934 to Ephraim and Esther Smith. On June 3, 1956 Betty married Chester Brzezan. They purchased a home on Trenton Street in Detroit where they raised their four children (Helen, Chester, Jr., Karen and Barney). Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Leonard, Leroy, Gordon, Donnie, Leona and Delores. Betty is survived by her four children, her grandchildren (Suzanne, Katherine, Steven, Jewel, Liana, and Deanna), and her great-grandchildren (Meagan, Mariah, Ronald, Jr., Brittany, Crystal, Makenzie, Damien, Kylie, Kayla, Hussain and Maci). Betty loved her family and enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with them. Betty and her sister Donna took cake decorating classes, and she made everyone’s birthday cakes and enjoyed decorating them. Betty loved cooking and enjoyed having family meals where all would gather and enjoy their time together. She was a care giver to her family, extended family, and friends. Betty was present for the births of all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafting and made ceramics, decorations, and ornaments to share with her family and friends. Betty enjoyed traveling around Michigan and Ohio, especially trips to Frankenmuth. She loved shopping especially at Bronner’s Christmas Store and enjoyed eating at Bavarian Inn. Betty maintained contact with her foster mother until her foster mother’s death. She also enjoyed visiting and traveling with her nephew Gordon. Betty was a faithful member of Trinity-St. Mark’s United Church of Christ until her death. She frequently created wonderful desserts for coffee hours at the church. Betty mastered logging into Zoom so that she could participate in Sunday worship services. She always enjoyed fellowship time with her church family. She mastered Facebook Messenger and enjoyed video calls with her family and watching Deanna cook fabulous meals. Betty also enjoyed the Days of Our Lives soap opera, word-search puzzles, Red Wings hockey, Neil Diamond, visits to zoos (panda bears were her favorite) and several trips to Florida. To those attending visitation and/or services at the funeral home for a loved one, in keeping with CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines, masks and social distancing along with limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel must be followed and will be enforced. Thank you for understanding.
