Billy R. Brumfield, 82, of Taylor, passed away on October 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda, and is survived by his second wife, Vernell Wilson. Billy proudly served in the United States Air Force before enjoying a successful career at General Motors. In retirement, he fulfilled his dream by driving a tour bus for Trinity Motor Group. He is also survived by his daughters, Letha (Charlie) Archibald and Anita (Bryan) Clark. As a proud grandfather, he cherished Benjamin (Tiffany) Archibald, Jessica (Ryan) Tanis, Ashley (Will) Kendall, Tyler Clark, and Madison (Jacob) Spurgeon. The title he held most dear was Great-Papaw, as Ely, Henry, Max, Fiona, Sofia, and Lucia brought him immense joy. Additionally, Billy is survived by Vernell’s children, Melinda (Rick) Brown and Mark (Anita) Wilson, his siblings, Carol (Scotty) Reynolds, Karen (Charlie) Maynard, Randy (Deb) Brumfield, sister-in-law Brenda Brumfield, and brothers-in-law Bill Chafin, Jr., Rodney Adkins, and Larry Preece, along with a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Truman and Tella Brumfield, as well as siblings Larry and Wanda Brumfield. Billy’s unwavering faith in Jesus Christ served as his foundation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Inter-City Baptist Church, specifying the “ICBS Scholarship Fund.”
