Burton G. Bickel, born on April 25, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at Corewell Hospital in Trenton, Michigan. Burt, affectionately known as “Red”, was a devoted husband and a beloved family man, leaving behind a cherished legacy of love and dedication.

His successful 34-year career with Ford Motor Company allowed him to retire at the young age of 57. A member of Ford Yacht Club in Grosse Ile for decades, Burt enjoyed being on the water and taught his family the joy of sailing and the thrill of winning sailboat races.
He was the devoted husband of Lucy J. (Bognar) Bickel, with whom he celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they spent their winters in The Villages in Florida and traveled the world.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Doris) Bickel, and Kathleen Hudson-Beitz (Paul Beitz), who have inherited his love for family and community. Burt was proud of his role as a grandpa to Grant (Eleanor) Hudson, Garrett Hudson, and Nick (Lily) Beitz, as well as a great-grandpa to Birdie Beitz, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life.
