Carl Chester Sutton, a devoted Christian man and beloved husband, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on August 12, 1934, in Jasper, Alabama, Carl lived a life marked by steadfast faith, service to his country, and deep familial love.
Carl answered the call of duty with honor, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. His commitment to his country exemplified his unwavering courage and dedication, qualities that defined his character throughout his life.
On October 4, 1954, Carl married his cherished wife, Barbara Sutton. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning over 72 years. Barbara stood by his side through every chapter, sharing in both joys and challenges, and their bond was a source of strength and comfort for them both.
Carl was part of a large and loving family. He is survived by his brother, Bobby Sutton, and sister, Juanita Logan, who, along with Barbara, continued to cherish his memory. Numerous nieces and nephews also carry forward his legacy, remembering him as a guiding and loving figure in their lives.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Callie Sutton. As well as his brothers, Claude Sutton, Tommy Sutton, Billy Sutton, Jackie Sutton, and his sister, Dorothy Bell. Their memories remain a treasured part of Carl’s story and the family’s heritage.
Throughout his life, Carl’s devotion to his faith was the cornerstone of his identity. His gentle spirit, generosity, and steadfast principles left an indelible impact on all who knew him. His journey from Jasper, Alabama, to a life well-lived is a testament to perseverance, kindness, and unwavering faith.
