Carol A. Downie, a cherished member of her community and devoted family matriarch, passed peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Monroe, Michigan. Born on January 24, 1937, in Pontiac, Michigan, Carol's life spanned nearly nine decades filled with love, service, and dedication.
Carol was well known and deeply respected as a lunch aid within the Lincoln Park School System, where she brought her warm spirit and nurturing nature to the children she served. Her devotion extended beyond her professional life; she was a committed churchgoer, finding solace, inspiration, and connection through her faith.
As a loving mother, Carol is survived by her daughters, Kathie (Mike) Short and Bobbi Broughton, and her son, Glen (Phyllis) Downie. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren, Josh (Dawn), Jacob (Nicole), Zach (Danielle), Sarah, Emily, Liza, Jack, and Rich, as well as her great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy, with whom she shared 36 wonderful years, and her daughter, Glennda (Rich) Burgess. She leaves behind fond memories in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her sister Alice (the late Dick) Kern.
A visitation in her honor will take place on October 2, 2025, at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes in Allen Park, Michigan, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather for her funeral service on October 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Carol A. Downie will be remembered for her selflessness, her unwavering faith, and the countless lives she touched throughout her lifetime. She is dearly missed but will always be celebrated for the love and joy she brought to her family and community.
