In Loving Memory of Carole Ann Fernelius Hayward: Carole Hayward passed away at home at the age of 78, with her beloved daughter Laura Ann Hayward at her side. Carole was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack (John) and her sons David and baby Roland. Carole grew up in Lincoln Park and Southgate Michigan and Minnetonka, Minnesota. Following high school, Carole attended Easter Michigan University, where she met Jack (John). He was her best friend and the love of her life. Jack and Carole were married 50 years and spent most of those years living on Grosse Ile, then retired to West Branch. Carole was a registered Occupational Therapist. She began her career at Wyandotte General Hospital but spent most of her career with the Visiting Nurse Association of Detroit until her retirement. Carole was always creative in her work and in her free time. She loved textiles, knitting, and weaving. She loved to cook and try new recipes. Carole also could use woodworking tools to create or repair. She was a kind and devoted friend. Many people were touched by her gracious spirit and positive impact on others. Carole is lovingly remembered by many including her sister Susan Hill and sisters-in-law Jean Beaubien and Judy (Ricco) Righetti. Cousins in Colorado, Georgia and Indiana and many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial donations may be made in celebration of Carole’s life to March of Dimes in the name of Carole Fernelius Hayward. Carole has left beautiful memories in our hearts. She is forever loved and in God’s keeping.
