Carolyn "Hon" "Honey" Baldwin

Listen to Obituary

Carolyn Baldwin, known fondly as "Hon" or "Honey," passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in Trenton, Michigan leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever echo in the hearts of her family. Born on October 8, 1941, in Illinois, Carolyn spent her life as a dedicated homemaker who centered her world around her family. She nurtured her household with warmth, providing a constant source of support and love that shaped the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.

Carolyn's spirit brought joy both to her family gatherings and to the quiet moments spent sitting on the porch with her dog Cody, where she often delighted in watching the mailman and for the world to go by.

Hon loved the Game Show Network, especially Family Feud and would often fall asleep to the theme song and Steve Harvey’s voice.

Her family was her everything, and she poured her heart into raising her children, each of whom carries pieces of her kindness and strength: her daughter Debbie (Mike) Tyler, her sons Jim (Lisa) Baldwin and Ed (Donna) Baldwin, and her daughter Kat (Juan) Ortiz. Her grandchildren – Elena, Katerina, Angie, Brina, Brandi (Johnathan), Amber (Ben), and Edward (Tika) – were the lights of her life, who brought her immeasurable joy. Carolyn reveled in the role of grandmother and great-grandmother, and she watched with pride as her legacy continued through her great-grandchildren Belle, Summer, Liv, Julianna, and Edward.

Carolyn is also survived by her siblings, Linda (Clyde) Street and Jerald Goss, and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her as a guiding force in their lives.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her late husband, James J. Baldwin, whose memory she cherished throughout her life. Joining him in eternal rest are her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Goss, and siblings Virginia (the late Bud) Herr, Delbert (the late Donna) Goss, Gilbert (the late Nancy) Goss, and Patsy (the late Don) Boren, along with her beloved dog, Cody.

Carolyn’s home on Campbell Street in Southwest Detroit always had an open door where you could get a glass of “Hon’s famous iced tea”.

Carolyn Baldwin's life was defined by her unwavering love for family and her tireless spirit. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and guide her family, reminding them to cherish each moment and to always hold one another close. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be a treasure in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
