Charles "Chuck" Furstenau

Charles “Chuck” Furstenau, 79, passed away at his home in Grosse Ile surrounded by his loving family on 1 October 2022. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on 21 December 1942, Chuck is survived by his bride of 56 years, Carol; children Christine, Chad (Carol), Mike (Jennifer), and Craig (Stacey); 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, Ted and mother, Frances. Chuck was an active member of Grosse Ile VFW Post 7310, Sacred Heart K of C Council 13475, and a friend of Bill W. for over 37 years. Chuck was very proud of his status as a military veteran, having served our country in Vietnam from 1966-67 as an enlisted man in the United States Air Force. He graduated high school from Monroe Catholic Central, then went on to graduate with degrees from Ferris State University and Western Michigan University. Chuck was an avid hunter and golfer, loved sharing his jokes with everyone, and could often be heard reciting his version of the 23rd Psalm. Chuck will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, his work ethic, the stories of meeting his wife at the baseball field when he was 13 and she was 11, a joke about the Lone Ranger and a “definitive”tarp.
