Charles Edward Goines, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and cherished friend, passed away on May 27, 2026, at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. Born on December 27, 1946, in Athens, Tennessee, Charles lived a life rich with love, service, and a deep commitment to his family and community.

A proud graduate of Wayne County Community College, Charles embarked on a remarkable professional journey, culminating in his distinguished career at General Motors. Twice retired from the company, his work ethic and dedication were evident to all who knew him. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles served honorably in the United States Marines, exemplifying courage and patriotism.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Charles remember him as a man with an infectious spirit—outgoing and warm, he truly never met a stranger. He was affectionately known as “the host with the most,” with an uncanny ability to bring people together and make everyone feel welcome. His greatest joy was found in his family, whose presence brightened his life immeasurably. He loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially while camping and sharing precious moments.

Charles is lovingly survived by his devoted wife Susan, who stood by his side through all seasons of life. His children Tina (Patrick) Woods, Kristy Stapula, Tony (Kylee) Mohammed, Chrissy (the late Mark) LaVeque, and Derrick (Jennifer) Mohammed continue to carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Heather Stapula, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren who will forever cherish the memories and values instilled by Charles.

Among his siblings, Charles is survived by Alice (the late Eugene) Frost and Linda (Rick) Stewart. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Stapula, his parents Charles Henry Goines and Frances Irene (Duckett) Goines, and his siblings Mary Louise (Jesse) Blackburn, Donald (the late Sue) Goines, and Mildred Josephine Glover.

Charles’ life was a testament to the power of kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He leaves behind a family and a circle of friends who will continue to honor his memory by embodying the very qualities that made him so special.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Charles’s life during a visitation on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Both will be held at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, Michigan 48101. Interment will be at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors by The Downriver Veterans Honor Guard.

Though Charles has left this world, his spirit remains alive—in every smile, every story, and every cherished gathering. He was a beacon of light and love who truly never met a stranger and whose warmth will never be forgotten.
