Chuck Player, born on July 16, 1941, departed this life on October 3, 2025. A dedicated soul who epitomized the values of hard work and community service, Chuck spent an impressive 30 years at Chrysler, contributing significantly to the automotive industry.
He is survived by his son, Dale (Tammi), and daughter-in-law, Hillary. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Helen, Gideon, Lucius, Lyndon, and Michaela, along with four children from a previous marriage: Douglas, Lisa, Pamela, and Scott.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Player, his son Darren, his sister Joan Helton, and his parents, Everitt and Mary Player.
His passion extended beyond his professional career; he was known for his unwavering commitment to family and community. Chuck took pride in coaching Little League Baseball for both of his sons, instilling a love for the game and the importance of teamwork in the young athletes he mentored. He maintained his own cars and for a time a boat. He was a mechanical wizard. He restored a school bus for the Downriver Veteran’s Honor Guard.
A Vietnam Air Force veteran, Chuck was actively involved with the Downriver Honor Guard, Wyandotte Honor Guard, and American Legion Post #389. His military service shaped his character and deepened his commitment to honoring his fellow veterans.
An avid golfer, Chuck embraced life with vigor, never allowing himself to sit still. He embodied a spirit of adventure and community engagement that left a lasting mark on those around him.
A memorial gathering and service will be held to remember and celebrate Chuck's life on October 11, 2025, at The Ridge Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes in Trenton, Michigan. The gathering will commence at 12:00 PM and culminate with an honor guard service at 5:00 pm. Those who knew Chuck are warmly invited to pay their respects and share fond memories of a man who brought joy, laughter, and strength to the lives he touched.
