Clarence C. Jones, a devoted family man and a stalwart in his family and community, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at his home in Sumpter Township, Michigan. Born on October 2, 1940, in Crawley, West Virginia, Clarence lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and an unyielding love for those closest to him.

Clarence’s early years were spent in West Virginia, where he attended Smoot Schools, laying the foundation for the remarkable character and work ethic that would define his life. His commitment to serving others was exemplified by his proud tenure in the United States Army, where he embraced the values of discipline and honor.

Following his military service, Clarence built a distinguished career with Ryder Truck Rental. As a top-notch Master Mechanic, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike, often working in challenging weather conditions to ensure his family’s well-being. His work was more than a job; it was a testament to his unwavering responsibility and strength. He was a long-time member of Charity Baptist Church in Brownstown Twp, MI

Clarence’s greatest joy was his family, who were the very heart of his life. A loving father to Gregory Jones, Deborah (Robert) Kudla, and Michelle (David) Lukasik, he nurtured and supported them with wisdom and kindness. His legacy extended to his cherished grandchildren, Leana, Matthew, and Arianna, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He was also a beloved brother to Wayne (Nyla) Jones and leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Barbara Jones, Sheila Dotson and Regina McCary as well as many other loving family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Betty G. (Rinehart) Jones; his parents, Robert Jennings Jones and Maymie Alice (Walkup) Jones; and his brothers, Larry Jones and Gerald Walkup. Their memories will remain treasured and honored by all who knew Clarence.

Clarence was a man of great wisdom; known for the thoughtful advice he shared and the steady hand he provided to those in need. His family was his refuge and his pride; his love shaped the lives around him in profound ways.
