Also survived by his sister Catherine Barber. Brother Gladden, as most people knew him by, was born in Linden, Tennessee, twelfth of thirteen children. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When he was discharged, he and his new bride moved to Southgate, Michigan, where they raised their family. He worked, and retired from, McLouth Steel. He loved planting and caring for his vegetable garden, camping with his wife and his family. He and his family attended the Orange Street Church of God and he was instrumental in the building of the new church when they moved and became the Riverview Church of God, where he served in many capacities. More recently, he and his wife attended and are very active members at The Heritage Church of God in Taylor. Brother Gladden was also known for his amazing faith in God. He volunteered at a local food pantry and prayed for and with everyone that came by. He also volunteered at Wyandotte Henry Ford Hospital and prayed regularly with patients and staff. He touched many people with his strong faith and will be greatly missed.
