Clifford S. Bomia

Born in Monroe, MI, Clifford was the son of the late Ernest and Leona (Palmer) Bomia. On February 9, 1946, he married the former Antoinette M. Rossi in a double wedding ceremony with his brother Norman and Antoinette's sister Mary at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, MI. Sadly Antoinette preceded him in death on July 3, 2016. They were married for 70 years. Clifford served proudly in the US Army during World War II from December 1942 until late 1946. During his working career Clifford worked for Monroe Auto Equipment until its closure on E. Front St. He then worked for Hy-Way (Man's) Lumber before pursuing a job with Mobile Home Ranch delivering and setting up mobile homes. He then worked for Thompson Plumbing and Heating in Petersburg where he retired, not once, not twice, but three times. He always had to keep busy and he enjoyed what he did. He loved his children but just adored his grandchildren. Every Christmas he would go toy shopping and couldn't wait to see the look on their faces when they opened their gifts that he especially picked out for them. He also enjoyed making toys for them as well. In his younger years Clifford enjoyed bowling, hunting, camping, and of course he was a beloved Detroit Tiger fan. You would also find him playing Euchre at least three times a week at the Monroe Senior Citizens. He could be found at the flea markets around Monroe and on Middlebelt Rd. He brought home many treasures, whether he needed them or not. It was just a good bargain. Many family vacations were taken to East Tawas where a cabin was rented yearly. He enjoyed feeding the ducks, and squirrels and often had them eating out of his hand. He also had a fondness for dogs and enjoyed his grand-dogs visits. Clifford was a stranger to no one and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Clifford leaves to cherish his memory four children: Judith (Bob) Goins of Temperance, Kathleen (Skip) Sommers of Monroe, Michael (Wanda) Bomia of Newport and Susan Cousino of Petersburg. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Thomas of Waterveliet, MI. 8 grandchildren: Jeffrey Coolman, Caleb Goins, Kevin Sommers: Justin (Rachael) Sommers, Michael (Nicole) Bomia, Rebecca Bomia, Clint Cousino and Angie (Jared) Kimple. 12 great grandchildren as well as 4 great-great grandchildren with one expected in February. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Antoinette, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norman, 2 infant siblings , brother-in-law Lawrence Thomas Jr. and son-in-law, John Cousino. The family would like to thank the staff at Wellspring Lutheran Services for their loving and personal care they extended to their father. As well as ProMedica emergency room doctors and staff, and 2 South nurses for their kindness and care not only extended to their father but to them as well and to ProMedica Hospice for their support and guidance as Dad went to his eternal home.
