Cora 'Jean' Messer

Cora "Jean" was born on May 15, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Silas Dodson and Eva May (nee: Boa) Schell and died at her home on December 23, 2015 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Oscar. Loving mom of Roxy (the late Thomas) Clark, Linda Lewandowski, Betty (Mike) Sowle and Oscar (Andrea) Messer. Proud grandma of Ron, Lisa (Joe), April (Danny), Michael (Jen) and Matthew (Heather). Great grandma of Shane, Danny, Danica, James, Nolan, Leighton, Elena and Adelynn. Dearest sister of Maxine (Joseph) Oskarek and sister-in-law to Carolyn Schell. Also survived by her nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, one sister Margaret Penland and one brother Lawrence "Sonny" Schell. Jean's love in life was her family; she enjoyed spending winters in Florida and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed playing shuffleboard and was an excellent cook. Visitation is Saturday from 3 – 9 pm and Sunday from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service which will begin Sunday at 2 pm all at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (Corner of Goddard). Entombment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made as the donor chooses.
