David S. Gomoll, of Rockwood, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on November 7, 1956, in Trenton, Michigan, at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital, to Nelson and Constance “Connie” (Starkweather) Gomoll.
He graduated from Gibraltar Carlson High School in 1974. Following graduation, David attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan, for one year. On May 24, 1980, David “Dave” married the love of his life, Denise M. Giannola, and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Dave built a career doing what he loved. Beginning at just 16 years old, he worked as a craftsman and went on to spend 49 years as a finish carpenter. He took great pride in his work and built his business through trusted referrals and lasting relationships.
David was a natural sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Over the past four years, he and his wife Denise spent their winters in Ellenton, Florida, where they made many friends and cherished their time in the sun. During the summer months, they enjoyed golfing and fishing together on Lake Erie.
He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren,—watching baseball games and dance recitals, going on boat rides, and fishing together. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to fix just about anything, and his traditional weekend morning donut runs.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Denise Gomoll; his children, Michelle (Jason) Rourk, Nelson (Jenn) Gomoll, and Matthew Gomoll; his beloved grandchildren, Cadence, Benjamin, and Wyatt Rourk, and Everett and Eloise Gomoll; his sister, Melody (Scott) Fanslau; and his brother, Dean Gomoll, along with countless extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Connie Gomoll.
At his request, cremation has taken place.
In honor of his memory, take a day to go golfing or cast a line and go fishing with your loved ones.
