David Knechtges

David Knechtges, age 55 of Northville (formerly Allen Park), passed away June 22, 2020 in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family after a year-long, hard-fought battle against cancer. A devoted and loving father to Reed and Shane. Cherished significant other of Jennifer Szkrybalo. Beloved brother of Jerry (Julie) Knechtges, Katie (Bill) Strieff, Craig Schembri (Carol), LeAndra (Brian) Champnella, and Joel (Jenny) Schembri. Dearest son of Gerard and the late Frances, and loving son-in-law of Joe and Diane Schembri. Former husband and dear friend of Paula Schembri. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave valued friendship and family above all else and could often be found surrounded by loved ones. His favorite pastimes include hunting, fishing, and rooting on his alma mater, the Michigan State Spartans. He also proudly served Carpenter Company for more than 20 years of his career. While Dave departed this Earth far too soon, his legacy lives on in all those who had the chance to know, love, and be loved by him. His strength, generosity, and charisma will be missed greatly and loved for eternity. Memorial contributions in honor of Dave may be made to the Pediatric Retinal Research Foundation or St. Jude’s Hospital. Our Lady of Victory Church requires that everyone wear a mask for the service.
