With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we remember and celebrate Dolores Louise LaPalm (née Gauthier). Born on September 13, 1932, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. Dolores’s journey on this earth drew to a peaceful close on June 30, 2026, at Corewell Hospital in Trenton, Michigan.

She was a beloved daughter to Napoleon and Lucille Gauthier. She immigrated to the United States with her family and proudly became a US citizen in 1976. Throughout her life, Dolores’s compassionate nature ensured that she brought comfort and warmth to all those fortunate enough to know her.

Dolores married the love of her life Arden D. LaPalm on May 7, 1955. They were happily married for 66 years.Though he preceded her in death, his memory remains a cherished anchor in the hearts of their family.

Family was the cornerstone of Dolores’s world. Together with her husband, they raised 5 children—Dan (Cheryl), Janet (the late Mike) Cole, Doreen (Kurt) Kachadorian, Paul (Tanja), and Carl. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Dolores’s bond with her sister, Gloria Hayden, and brother-in-law, Bill Hayden, was one of lifelong affection, sustained by shared memories and steadfast support. In her heart, she held close the memories of her brothers, John and Ron Gauthier, whose absence was deeply felt.

In 1986, she and Arden purchased property on Lake Lochbrae in Gladwin, MI. They built a beautiful home together that was enjoyed by all of her family, especially on Labor Day weekends. Dolores loved playing Bingo and going on Casino trips. She had a love for being outdoors working with her flowers and her yard. She was impeccable about how her flowers and yard looked, always making sure that flower types and colors complimented the space they were in.

As we bid farewell to Dolores, we are comforted by the lasting imprint of her love and the enduring example she leaves behind. Her story is carried forward by her children and all those touched by her remarkable life—each a living testament to her compassion and fortitude.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 12th, 2026. On Monday, July 13th, there will be an instate period beginning at 11:30 AM until Mass begins at 12:00 PM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
