On Wednesday, October the 5th, Donald James Morton (89) quietly passed away. Donald is survived by his daughters, Susan Hicks (James), Christine Galanty (Mark) and his stepson William Southall (Laura). He often boasted of his 7 grandchildren and his 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth, his sister Shirley and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Merle Morton and his brother John (Jack).


Don was a proud Korean veteran who had a long standing love affair with racing and classic cars. His love of racing and classic cars go back many decades, from street racing in Detroit to the Detroit Dragway, Hurst Olds Corporation, to his own Automotive PR firm that he and his wife owned. He made numerous friends and acquaintances through his automotive exploits. He will be missed by the "Geezers" in his car community and his many other friends. He traveled extensively in his lifetime both for work and leisure and passed along his love of travel to his children.


A memorial will be held at Lily's Seafood Restaurant in Royal Oak on November 12th at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
