Doris (Schuyler) Karle passed away February 13, 2024, at MediLodge of Monroe just short of her 90th birthday. She was born on March 31, 1934, in Livonia to Elizabeth (Fiddler) Schuyler and Ward E. Schuyler and grew up with numerous brothers and sisters in the Dundee and Maybee areas. She spent her later life in the City of Monroe.
Doris lived in Africa for several years during the late 1950s and the 1960s when she accompanied her ex-husband, the late Donald H. Karle, who worked in Liberia's lumber industry. After returning to the states, Doris worked at Gruber's bakery in Monroe and Wolverine Plastics in Milan, eventually retiring from the Ford Motor Co. (Milan plant).
Doris was known for her cooking and baking skills, especially at Christmas when she made large plates of Christmas cookies for friends and family. She loved music and could yodel as well as any professional. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, and dancing with longtime friend Karl Kopmanis. She will be remembered by many for her high energy and her infectious laugh.
Doris is survived by one sister, Ileen (Schuyler) Yoas; three daughters, Dianne (Robert) Gonsalez, Delinda Karle (Robert Becker) and Donna Stefansky; three grandchildren, Lana (Keith) Magnuson, Rene (Jesse) Kippola and Jasmine Stefansky; and three great-grandchildren, Quenten Kippola, Audrey Kippola and Violet Sargus.
Siblings LeRoy Schuyler, Ed Schuyler, Donald Schuyler, Ward Schuyler, Kenneth Schuyler, Margaret Straub, Alice Kiebler and Mary Jane Appleby preceded Doris in passing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association can be made in Doris' honor.
