Edward D. Bomia, Sr.

Edward D. Bomia, Sr.

Born in Monroe, Edward was the son of Cornelius & Almina (Hamilton) Bomia. He faithfully served his country with the United States Army from December 22, 1954 until December 15, 1958. Edward then married the love of his life, Carol Raymond on October 2, 1961. His career was spent as a Mason Tender with the Laborers Union Local 465 of Monroe for more than 40 years. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie he was also belonged to the American Legion in Ida. Well known for being and avid outdoorsman, Edward enjoyed hunting, fishing and turtle trapping. He was an expert shuffleboard player and past State of Michigan Euchre Champion. He also loved to dance. He spent many days hanging with his three best friends: Herman Weller, Paul King and Jack Reed. Edward leaves to cherish his memory, Carol, his wife of the past 51 years; children: Julie (Paul) Burgard, Edward "Ingie" (Angela) Bomia, Jr., Cornelius "Corey" (Melissa) Bomia, Wendy (Jim) Gardiner, Steve (Michelle) Bomia and Troy Bomia, Sr., all of Erie. He will also be greatly missed by his 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Sadly Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a son Timothy Bomia; four brothers: Henry "Hank" Bomia, Clayton Bomia, Elwood Bomia and Reaford Ryan; as well as six sisters: Helen Smith, Veulah Patennaude, Beulah Steinle, Lou Glasier, Grace Raymond and Bonna Pentrics. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence or the Alzheimer's Association.
