Elaine Longfellow, born on October 19, 1949, peacefully passed away on July 14, 2026. Elaine's life was marked by love, devotion, and cherished memories shared with her family and friends.

Elaine was a beloved mother to her daughters, Sherri (Manfred) Amann and Kristen (Jose) Veliz, and a proud grandmother to Nicholas, Patrick, Danielle, Noah, and Olivia. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support throughout their lives. Elaine was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Larry P. Longfellow, with whom she shared many precious years and memories.

Elaine was a lifelong educator who dedicated her career to teaching high school French and English. She inspired generations of students with her love of language and literature. Even after retiring, her passion for teaching never faded. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she lovingly continued her role as a teacher by homeschooling her grandchildren, Olivia and Noah. Among the many joys in Elaine’s life was spending winters at the family condo in Delray Beach, Florida. These times were filled with laughter, relaxation, and the creation of lasting memories with those she held dear.

Elaine treasured every moment spent in the company of her loved ones and took immense pride in nurturing the close bonds of her family.

To honor Elaine’s memory, a Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, both at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101.

Elaine’s grace, compassion, and dedication to her family remain her enduring legacy. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
