Elizabeth “Betty” Merandi passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on July 14, 1929, Betty lived a long life marked by faith, devotion to family, and a deep engagement with the world around her.
Betty was a woman who stayed connected—to her church, to her community, and to the people she loved most. She enjoyed volunteering at numerous organizations alongside friends and family, giving her time generously and with a caring heart. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed playing word finds, and she was known as someone who knew everything that was going on in the world. Her faith was a guiding presence throughout her life. She was a faithful member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and later moved to Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, where that same devotion remained an important part of her life.
Above all, Betty will be remembered for the love she shared with her family across generations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Merandi; her daughter, Deborah (James) Elkins, and her son, Frank John (Cindi) Merandi; her parents, Gabriel and Emerenz Kormos; and her siblings, Irene, Margaret, and Walter.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Tim) McMillan, Francesca (late Charles) Deming, and Beth Ann (late Brian) Murphy. Her legacy continues in her grandchildren, James and Gabriel (Kelly) Elkins; Timothy McMillan; Shannon and James Eagan; Sean and Sarah Murphy; Kyle and Steven Merandi; Samantha Merandi and Shane; and Dominic Merandi and Carly. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Greyson, Payton, Aiden, Parker, Zayn, and Eleanor. The family she nurtured and cherished stands as a lasting reflection of a life filled with enduring love. She was also well loved by many nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.
She will be deeply missed.
