Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Jeanne Geierman, lovingly known as Betty, who left this earthly realm to be with the Lord on June 20, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan. She was born on June 17, 1934, in Lima, Ohio, and spent her life devoted to family, creativity, and compassion.

Elizabeth was a treasured homemaker, dedicating her heart and soul to her beloved family. She embraced her role with grace and warmth, treating her children, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and grandchildren with an unwavering love. She often expressed this love through her creative talents, crafting beautiful cross-stitch pictures filled with affection. Each piece represented not just art, but a heartfelt message, as she would often say, "A lot of love went into each stitch." Her granddaughter, Megan, cherished the special nickname “Big Martha,” while she affectionately called herself “Little Martha,” a playful bond that brought joy to their hearts.

An encouraging matriarch, Elizabeth took the time to share her life story with each of her grandchildren, urging them to "keep the story alive." This legacy of love, wisdom, and familial connection will forever be etched in their memories. Along with her husband Alvin, whom she cherished for 43 years, Betty created countless adventures for their family, taking their children camping across more than 25 states, instilling a sense of wonder and joy for exploration.

Betty’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. For over 20 years, she shared her faith by teaching religion to preschool children. She was actively involved in her community through the Women’s Guild, generously baking cupcakes for the homeless in Detroit, and bringing comfort to seniors at Oakwood Nursing Home through her Communion visits.

Her home was always filled with laughter and love, especially during sleepovers with her grandchildren, where they’d often play cards and share belly laughs. To her grandchildren, she often responded to their sweet declarations of love with a playful, “I love you more,” affirming her boundless affection.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving daughters, Julie (John) Mizak and Marie (Jeffery) Jensen, her sons, Mark (Tina) Geierman and David (Venessa) Geierman, and a host of grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica (Marcos), Jeremy, Chelsea (Ryan), Shawna (Joe), Megan (James), Benjamin, Luke (Ava), Simone (Mark), Camdin (Chris), Alyssa, along with her great-grandchildren, Logan, Grace, Enzo, Carter, Mason, Hunter, Sydney, Autumn, Bella, Arie, Cade, and one on-the-way in November.

She is also survived by her cherished siblings, Teresa (the late Ray) Barron and Joanne (the late Gordon) Luthy and Godson William Omler. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her beloved husband Alvin, her parents Clarence and Anna Omler, her grandson Joshua, her siblings James (the late Virginia) Omler and Mary (the late Nick) Vuich, and her nephews Robert Moore, John Moore, Richard Omler and niece Cindy Smith.

In honor of Elizabeth's indelible spirit, services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton, Michigan, on June 23, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. As we gather to celebrate her life, we remember a woman full of love, laughter, and an abiding commitment to family and faith. Betty will be forever missed, yet her legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.
