Elizabeth (Witek) Mason, age 92, of Lincoln Park, went peacefully to be with our Lord on September 11, 2025 with her daughters and son-in-laws at her side.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Armondo Lino and her son Armondo Alfred, her parents Joseph and Emilia Witek, five of six Witek siblings Roman, Edward, Josephine, Joseph, and Henry, and her treasured sister-in-law Alice (Mason) Harkewicz. Her brother William is 99 years old.
She was an awesome mother to Patricia Morgan (Dave Morgan) of Colorado and Kristen Leventis (Dino Leventis) of Canton, Michigan, and mother-in-law to Melinda (Mimi Bessel) Ishii. Her grandchildren were her joy; Jessica (Mason) Waddell, her late son Armondo’s daughter, twins Natalie (Morgan) Halcomb and Mason Morgan, Nicholas and Alexander Leventis. Great grandchildren include twins Alice and William Waddell, Jacob Waddell, Madison and Hailey Leventis, and Grace Elizabeth Halcomb.
She loved the Detroit Tigers, having spent 36 years employed at Tiger Stadium and then Comerica Park, retiring in 2020 at the age of 87! She worked in the Suites and was affectionately known as “Miss Elizabeth”. In her retirement and her last few days, she rarely missed a game. She was also a licensed beautician.
Elizabeth was a long time member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Lincoln Park.
Elizabeth and her late husband Armondo were married for 58 years until his passing in 2008. They enjoyed their friends, so many of them over the years, and their large family. They enjoyed the many cruise vacations they took with her daughters’ family and friends. Mondo and Liz were often the life of the party and enjoyed dancing together, the casino, the entertainment.
She was all her nephews and nieces, too numerous to name, favorite Aunt Liz! They were all, especially Joseph Witek and Mark Sikora, like sons and daughters to her. The family loved her so very much, they told her often and her reply was always “I love you more”, the mantra which she will be remembered by forever in our hearts and minds.
Visitation will take place at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes on Thursday, September 18 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Elizabeth will lie instate from 9:30 until mass begins at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Michigan Memorial Park immediately following.
