Emilio C. DiMelis, of Lincoln Park, passed away June 1, 2022. Loving husband of Norine for 66 beautiful years. Beloved father of Vicki (Donald) Henderson, Joseph (Catalina) DiMelis, Lisa (Greg) Macoit and Dino (Christina) DiMelis. Cherished Nonno to Elisabeth (John), Cameron (Mari), Julian (Tori), Rebecca, Adrian, Dominic, Marco, Victoria, Anna and Isabella. Proud Bisnonno to Isaac, Evelyn and Palmer. He is preceded in death by all of his siblings, including Eda, Gino and Anthony. Emilio worked 37 years at McLouth Steel as a journeyman pipefitter. He cherished his 30 years of retirement. He would enjoy a difficult crossword every now and then. Loved to tell stories, from his childhood and his past, especially the ones with his lifelong friends that grew up across the alley from him. He would vacation in Florida, where he played dominos, and just liked to get away from the cold Michigan weather. He was proud of his manicured shrubs, and won the Lincoln Park city award for best lawn. He was a great handyman; he would work on not only his house but others as well. When it came to payment for his services, all he wanted was a sandwich and a coffee. He was a fabulous cook; his best dishes were hands down his polenta and pizza. Emilio was an ordained deacon and trustee for The Church of Jesus Christ, where he was very devoted and enjoyed spending his time. Visitation will be at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes- Allen Park Chapel, on Sunday June 5, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 7:30 pm and Monday June 6, 2022 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 am at the funeral home. A procession to Ferndale Cemetery will take place immediately following the funeral service.
