Evelyn Jo Petrucco

Evelyn Jo Petrucco, age 84 of Grosse Ile, MI, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. She was born in Dearborn, MI, on February 8, 1941, to her parents Joseph and Irene Lengyel. She grew up in Dearborn and was a graduate of Edsel Ford High School. Following high school, Evelyn attended Western Michigan University, in Kalamazoo, MI, earning her Bachelors Degree in Education.

In 1964, she was working a summer job at Detroit Receiving Hospital when she met the love of her life, Louis Petrucco. Louis was doing his residency there at the time when he recalled Evelyn bringing him a stack full of echocardiograms. He stated that from the moment they laid eyes on each other, they knew it was meant to be. They later married in 1965, and together had three children; Louis Gordon, Lisa Marie, and Joseph Oswald.

Evelyn enjoyed being outdoors, recalling trips she would take as a young girl to Lake Huron with her family. She also loved animals, cooking, fashion and jewelry. She was an avid crafter, known for making quilts and her sewing capabilities.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Louis Petrucco, MD; her children Louis Gordon (Jennifer Marie) Petrucco and Lisa Marie Petrucco; as well as her grandchildren Adam, Claudia, Noah, Natalia, and Adelaide. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Irene Lengyel; son Joseph Oswald Petrucco; in-laws Luigi and Angelina Petrucco; brother-in-law Oswald Petrucco; and sister-in-law’s Antoinette Wheatley and Linda Alt.

A memorial gathering will take place on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, from 9:30am - 10:00am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am at the same location.
