Frances Kay Byrd, a dedicated homemaker and beloved member of her community, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Monroe, the very place where she was born on February 20, 1960. Frances touched the lives of everyone she encountered with her warmth and generosity, embodying the heart and soul of her family. Frances was married to James Byrd in 1976. Her life was marked by her unwavering commitment to family. She is survived by her cherished children: Jerry Byrd, James “Chris” (Amy) Byrd, Monica Dunsmore, and Jacob Byrd. The love Frances had for her children was profound, fostering relationships grounded in support, laughter, and a nurturing spirit. Her legacy will continue through her remarkable 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Each laugh, hug, and shared moment will remain etched in their memories as a testament to her loving presence. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Frances enjoyed close relationships with her siblings: Helen Casto, Donna (Terry) Schehr, Mitchell (Bryan Eicher) Brantley, and Monica (Pete Giannakakis) Love, Chet (Christy) Lafayette, Amy (Steve) Osborne as well as her former spouse James Byrd. The love shared among the siblings is a cherished part of Frances’ story, filled with countless memories and shared experiences that shaped their lives. Frances was preceded in death by her parents Arlie and Shirley Brantley, beloved brothers, Scottie Brantley and Tim Brantley. Though they may no longer be with us, their memories and the bonds they formed with Frances will always be remembered. Frances led a life full of hobbies and interests that reflected her vibrant spirit. She found joy in playing bingo and cards, and weekends spent camping brought her closer to nature and family. Whether she was sharing a laugh over a card game or providing an ear to listen, her presence lit up the lives of those around her. Friends may call Monday from 1:00 PM until a Celebration of Frances’ Life at 5:00 PM at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes-Allore Chapel; 203 E Elm Ave. The Rev. Fred Mayes from Frenchtown Missionary Baptist will officiate. This gathering will provide friends and family with an opportunity to share stories, reminisce about the moments they cherished with Frances, and celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Frances Kay Byrd's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, yet her legacy of love and resilience will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. We honor her memory not only in our sorrow but also in the joyous recollections of the loving matriarch she was. May her spirit continue to inspire us to embody kindness and love as we cherish the moments we have together.
