Frances E. Carter, affectionately known as Fran, passed away on May 12, 2026, leaving behind a rich legacy of kindness, community service, and family devotion. Born on August 1, 1929, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Frances’s life was a testament to dedication and grace, marked by her many years of volunteer work at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and commitment.
A proud graduate of Wyandotte Roosevelt High School, Frances embraced her passions with zest. She was an avid participant in the Pinochle Club, enjoyed golfing, and expressed her creativity through ceramics. Many cherished memories were made by spending leisurely days at her beloved summer home on Blue Lake, a retreat that held a special place in her heart.
Frances's enduring strength was reflected in her deep love for her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Leslie Browning, and her son, Robert T. Carter, who is married to Mary. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren: Ryan (Melanie), Jessica, David (Kayla), Jeremy (Kyleigh), Nicole (Scott), and Melissa (Don). The joy of her great-grandchildren—Jacob, Jeffrey, Jaxson, Carter, Rhett, Beckett, Jordyn, and Grady—was an added blessing to her later years. Frances also cherished the company of several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Charles and Margaret McLaughlin, her devoted husband, Robert L. Carter, and her son, Jeffrey Carter, who was survived by his wife, Kathy.
The family will gather to honor Frances’s remarkable life with a visitation at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183, on Friday May 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM, Family Sharing beginning at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church, 2623 3rd Street, Trenton, MI 48183, on Saturday May 16, 2026. The Funeral Mass will commence at noon following a brief gathering at 11:30 AM.
Frances E. Carter’s legacy is one of warmth, dedication, and an unwavering spirit that enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her contributions to her community and her cherished role within her family will forever be remembered with respect and love. She leaves behind a profound impact that will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have called her a part of their lives.
