Frank Kootsillas

Frank Kootsillas, age 83 of Southgate, MI passed away October 20, 2022 surrounded by his family and friends.

Loving husband of Debbi Kootsillas. Beloved father of Kevin (Lisa) Kootsillas, Jeff (the late Jennifer) Kootsillas, Corey (Kathy Shuel) Kootsillas and the late Frank Kootsillas, Jr. (Sherri and Mark Peltz). Proud grandpa of 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Loving brother of Joan Tillman, Robert Kootsillas, Tom Kootsillas. He also leaves behind his loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his furry friends.

As an active participant in the Grosse Ile Writing Club and writer for the Trenton Trib, he had an innate ability to show his personality through his writings and connect to the reader. With a quick-witted sense of humor and a fondness for pranks, he never ran out of stories to tell.

It was no secret that Frank also had a deep love for animals, never turning a blind-eye to those in need. It became common knowledge that Frank and Debbi fostered injured and abandoned animals back to health. They rescued ducks, birds, squirrels, and more who were all welcomed into their care.

Frank was a hard worker and known for doing projects around his house. From sketching and visualizing the concept to the execution, he was most proud of the bar in the recreation room of his home where many family gatherings were held.

Always giving and never judgmental, Frank had close and loving relationships with his children, grandchildren, and great children. It was Frank’s goal to create a family where love was at its center. Taking his family to Frankfort and Arcadia, MI, as well as introducing an interest in boating to his family, he placed a strong importance on building fond memories.

Memorial contributions in honor of Frank may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and/or the National Wildlife Preservation.
