Frank R. Kasic, Jr.

Frank R. Kasic Jr, age 76, passed away early Sunday, November 1, 2020 at home after courageously battling cancer. He was born on October 15, 1944 to Frank and Margaret (Stewart) Kasic Sr. in Ashland, KY, and grew up in Trenton, Michigan. Frank was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in Germany from 1962-1966 working as Air Police. He started his career as a police officer with the Trenton Police Department as a patrolman in the summer of 1967. Frank was a dedicated officer who demonstrated great care, competence, and professionalism in all aspects of his career. While part of the police force, he also served with the Traffic Bureau, Uniform Division, and the Detective Bureau. In 1985, he was promoted to corporal, road sergeant in 1987 and in 1988 to detective sergeant. He held that rank until 1991 and retired from his life-long career in 1994. Throughout his career as a policeman and while in the Air Force, he was an with expert marksmanship. On November 11, 1978, Frank married the love of his life, Janet Pitrone in Trenton, MI. Together they shared 42 years of adventures in marriage and love. Frank and his daughter, Amber, shared a love for ancient culture and hiked the Inca trail to Machu Picchu together in 2006. Their conversations and bond will be missed. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved all the beauty nature offers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Upper Peninsula which he described as God’s country. Frank and his dear friend of 50 years, Keith Smith, will always be remembered as the two best hunters you could ever walk a pheasant field with. He was a lover of all animals, but there was a special bond between Frank and his dog Thunder, who was truly man’s best friend. What he enjoyed just as much as the outdoors, was riding his Harley with his wife, Janet throughout northern Michigan. Frank was a gregarious man by nature; he was laughing even through the final moments of his life. He was a skilled writer and had a way with words that was coupled with a voice that many thought belonged on the radio. He will always be remembered for the unconditional love that he had for his family and friends. He was the ideal grandfather in every sense of the word, always smuggling extra cookies for Alex. His vivacious and tender-loving soul with truly be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Kasic; daughter, Amber (John) Kasic Mauro; grandson, Alexander Kasic Mauro; sister, Nell Cinato; brother, Daniel Kasic; 2 niece, Natalie Ramotowski and Ashleigh Kasic; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
