Gail passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2016. She was 63 years old. Gail was born in Ann Arbor on March 31, 1953. As she liked to say, she "was almost an April fool." Gail was born to the late John J. Freysinger and Frances E. (Bodily) Freysinger formerly of Belleville. She was the beloved wife of Harry Z. Davis, the loving mother of 3 children, Major Nathaniel (Kathie) Davis, Elizabeth Davis Reynolds, and Sarah Davis, the loving grandmother of Lily Davis and Brendan Reynolds, and the former mother-in-law of Lisa Davis. She is also survived by five siblings Tom (Karen), Beverly (Bob), Robert (Robin), Edward (Debbie), and Rick (Laurie), and other family and friends. She will be missed by her little dog Toto. Gail lived in Trenton, and formerly in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield, and Belleville. She graduated from Belleville High School in 1971, and toured Europe singing with a choir, performing a solo in a cathedral in Vienna. Subsequently she attended Oakland University, studying music, where she met Harry. They married at her parents' home in Bloomfield Hills on August 16, 1975. Gail soon committed herself to caring for her sister-in-law Judy until her untimely passing. Subsequently Gail dedicated herself to being a homemaker and raising her three children, but her caring personality and her desire to help others could not be contained within the home. Gail volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday school director. Gail established and built the Downriver Chapter of Healing the Children, a non-profit charity that sponsors international children in desperate need of surgery in the United States, and served as its full time volunteer coordinator. In addition to her leadership role, that restored health to forty children, Gail and her family personally hosted four such children as members in their home during evaluation, surgeries, and recovery. She also touched countless others during years as a piano teacher and substitute teacher. In 1990, Gail was the News Herald Mother of the Year. In her final years, she concerned herself with following the accomplishments of her children, doting on her grandchildren, and finding ways to provide small comforts and kindnesses to those who were ill or hurting. Her sympathy, compassion, and desire to do good and help others never faded, and will live on in the lives of those she touched.
