Gary Alfred Sconocchia, age 73 of Monroe, passed away January 30, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Hospital.
Born February 12, 1949 in Monroe, Gary was the son of Anthony “Tony” and Leona (Clark) Sconocchia. A 1967 graduate of Monroe High School, he faithfully served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a Radioman. He served on the USS Austin and the USS Portland. Gary then worked for many years as a Copy Machine Repairman. Outside of work Gary led a very active life; he loved playing guitar and was a founding member of the band “Ned’s in Town. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Gary also was an avid U of M Football fan; he enjoyed playing softball, was an avid golfer having hit a Hole in One at Green Meadows Golf Course, as well as being an avid bowler who shot a perfect 300 game at Nortel Lanes.
Gary leaves to cherish his memory his son Gary (his fiance’ Shelby Marietta) Hauf; grandchildren: Anthony, Corey and Gavin; an uncle and aunt Arthur (Beth) Sconochia; as well as his beloved cat Bentley.
