Gary Steven Kilar

Gary Steven Kilar, age 72 of Allen Park, MI, passed away on July 7, 2025. He was born on May 29, 1953 to Robert and Dorothy Kilar.

Gary was married to Patti (Williams) Kilar for 36 years, and together they had two children: Maggie (Jonathan) and Deanna. As well as being a devoted father, Gary was the beloved “Grandpa/Papa” to Chace, Eleanor and Hannah. He was a proud dog dad to his trusty companion, Boston, who was with him through thick and thin. He was also survived by his siblings, Dennis Kilar (Jan), Janice Pawelski (Mark) and Patrick Kilar (Jill), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Barbara Kilar and Beverly Kilar Smith.

Gary graduated from Cabrini High School and then began his career selling thousands of Chevy’s for over 40 years. The relationships he built with his customers will live on through his legacy. Gary’s passion outside of work was fishing. There wasn’t a time when he didn’t have a fishing story to share. He loved to hunt (although he never did get that deer), boat and ride his Harley. In his prime, there wasn’t anything that Gary couldn’t fix. He was always tinkering around in the garage and making sure his lawn was perfectly manicured. He lived out his days collecting various things that brought him happiness. May his memory live on through all of those that knew and loved him.

Gary’s family has entrusted the Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes for cremation services. Gary’s cremated remains will be interred at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of life will follow.
