Geneva B. Damron, whose remarkable journey began on October 16, 1921, in the quiet community of Three Rivers, West Virginia, departed this world on July 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, accomplishment, and grace.

Geneva’s early life was shaped by the warmth and guidance of her grandmother Maggie, instilling in her both resilience and deep appreciation for family traditions. The values she learned during those formative years blossomed throughout her life, evident in the way she cherished her loved ones and faced each chapter with quiet dignity.

Geneva’s pursuit of knowledge was both steadfast and inspiring. She graduated from Hellier High School, went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Pikeville College, and continued her education at Wayne State University—earning not only a Master’s in Education but also a Master’s in Library Science. These achievements were a testament to her unwavering dedication to learning and her lifelong curiosity about the world.

Professionally, Geneva poured her heart into education. Her career culminated in her retirement as head librarian from Lincoln Park High School, where she touched countless lives as a dedicated educator and mentor. She was not simply an educator; she was a source of encouragement and guidance for generations of students, many of whom carry her wisdom with them still.

Geneva’s zest for life was evident not just in her career, but in her many passions and pursuits. She was a gifted artist who found joy in painting with acrylics, turning blank canvases into vibrant expressions of her vision. Her skill as a calligrapher was renowned, and she found delight in sharing this art with others, teaching a calligraphy class as recently as a week before her passing. Crafting beauty came naturally to her—in her knitting and sewing, her talent found soothing rhythm, while her impeccable sense of style was unmistakable; she always liked everything to match, demonstrating her love for harmony and detail.

Those closest to Geneva will forever remember the aroma of homemade bread wafting through her home, a simple but profound act of love and tradition. Memories of Geneva are also filled with the adventurous spirit that led her to travel across Europe, Australia, and Alaska, savoring the wonder of each new place she discovered. In her 80th year, she commemorated her milestone birthday by soaring into the skies in a hot air balloon—a symbol of her boundless enthusiasm and courage.

Though Geneva accomplished much, her greatest pride and deepest joy was her family. She considered her children and loved ones her most cherished achievements, finding meaning and happiness in every shared moment and milestone. She is survived by her devoted children, Bob (the late Elaine) Damron and Dawna (Dennis) Schmalzel, and by her grandchildren Jason Damron, Dennis Schmalzel, Douglas Schmalzel, Christopher Edmonds, and Matthew Edmonds. The next generation continues her legacy: great grandchildren Matthew, Chloe, Alex, Hannah, Brittany, Cait, Jon and Darren as well as her great great grandchildren, Avery, Kendall, Kanon, and Roland. Geneva is also fondly remembered by her loving sisters, Bonnie, Virginia, and Barbara.

Geneva’s life was also marked by loss, with her beloved husband Robert L. Damron, her grandson Jay Edmonds, her sister Ramona, and her parents William and Thelma Price, and her stepmother Opal preceding her in death. Their memories remained ever-present in her heart—a guiding light of remembrance and love.

As we gather to honor Geneva, visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, Michigan. The funeral service will take place at the same location on Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.

Geneva leaves behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. She inspired all who knew her with her gentle strength, creative spirit, and profound devotion to her family. Her story will live on in the hearts and memories of those blessed to have walked beside her.
