George Edward Dusseau, age 93 of Monroe, passed away June 26, 2026.
Born September 29, 1932 in Monroe, George was the son of Herman and Leona (Dandrin) Dusseau. A graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School, he faithfully served our country with the United States Air Force. George married the love of his life, Barbara Winslow, on February 21, 1955. He continued his education at Eastern Michigan University earning his Masters Degree. George taught at Jefferson Public Schools Hurd Rd Elementary until 70 years old.
George had been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of the Lincoln Hunt Club and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Ducks Unlimited, NRA, Monroe Rod and Gun Club and the Disabled American Veterans.
George leaves to cherish his memory, Barbara, his wife of the past 71 years; two daughters: Caroline (Gary) Hensley and Bonnie (Gene) Swatek; four grandchildren: Christopher (Autumn) Hensley, Matthew (Heather) Hensley, Richard Eadie and Robert Eadie; as well as five great grandchildren: Alyssa (Daniel) Manier, Zoe Hensley, Megan Hensley, Isabella Hensley and Gabriella Hensley. and one Great Great Granddaughter: Mina Manier. Sadly he was preceded in death by three siblings: Herman Dusseau, Mary Foshag and Leanne Salow.
A celebration of George’s life has been planned under the care of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes-Allore Chapel; 203 E. Elm Ave. Friends may call Thursday from 2pm until 8p.m. Funeral services will be Friday. He will lie in state from 10am until a Mass of Resurrection at 11am from St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe. Burial will follow in McIntyre Cemetery at 3pm with military honors by the VFW Post 1138, Monroe.
