Gertrude Edna Crist

Gertrude Edna Crist, of South Rockwood, left this life at 92, on October 15, 2022. Loving mother of the late Ronald (the late Diana) Crist, Gerald L. Crist, the late David A. Crist, Robert J. (Teri) Crist, Joyce A. Crist, Daniel J. (Marcella) Crist, Julia (Michael) Hartung and the late Dennis V. Crist. Proud grandma and great grandma to many. Sister of Theresa Clawson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Edna Petrie; her husband Clyde Crist; her life partner Donald Dollar Bond; her brothers, Anthony J. Petrie, Leonard Petrie and Joe Petrie. Cherished friend of Sarah LaDuke, Michelle LaDuke, Bonnie Kundrick, Sharon Croft and Jackie Savard. She will be missed by her great grandson Joshua Slatten.

Edna loved reading and writing. She loved tending to her houseplants and gardening. She was always cooking and made everything from scratch. She raised eight children with love and homemade food. She spent a lot of time with her daughter Julia, Julia moved in with her mom when her health was beginning to decline and promised to always take care of her mother for the last six years. Much appreciation for the Hospice of Monroe for helping as well. She loved going on rides to the Metro Parks, Elizabeth Park, Wyandotte and Point Mouillee to sit by the river and watch the boats pass by. After the car rides, they always ended with a trip to get ice cream.
