Gilbert Erwin “Gib” Rose

WYANDOTTE. March 31, 1935 - October 26, 2022

Born in Jamestown, NY. Moved to Wyandotte in 1944.

Loving husband to the late Arlene; father to Peter (Janelle), Michael (Kelly) and Daniel

(Peggy); grandfather to Kirsten (Matt) and Haley (Evan); great-grandfather to

Anna, Alex, Max and Rosalie. His presence will be sorely missed, and he will

certainly not be forgotten.

A 1953 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte and in 1957

from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. U.S. Army Veteran and former

symphony orchestra manager in Massachusetts, he spent 60+ of his most

productive years as owner of Chelsea Group LLC which operates Chelsea

Menswear and Willow Tree Women’s Fashions in Downtown Wyandotte.

His love was his family. His life was his work. His devotion to the community was

unceasing. His ideas and determination to make good things happen in the only

City he really cared about, Wyandotte, made a difference. He was passionate

devotee of classical music, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in particular.

An event to celebrate the lives of Gilbert and Arlene Rose is being planned for January, details to follow.
