Gillis Emery Owens

Gillis Emery Owens, age 74 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Born February 12, 1946 in Monroe, Gillis was the son of Hobart and Virginia (Jarroitt) Owens. A graduate of Jefferson High School, Gillis then faithfully served our country in the United States Army, serving overseas in Vietnam. He worked as an Electronic Technician at the Kansas City Airport, retiring in 2000. Gillis was married to Sally Reaume in June of 1967. He then married Linda Harris September 18, 1981. Gillis was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 142 and VFW Post 1138 Monroe. Gillis leaves to cherish his memory, Linda, his wife of the past 39 years: children: Jeffrey Owens, Dawn (Curtis) Croskey, Dodie Owens and Kenneth (Ashley) Harris; as well as 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 3 siblings: Shannon Rahl, James (Darlene) Owens and Dolly Lajiness. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Luther Owens.
