Glenn E. Miller

Glenn E. Miller, born December 27,1931 passed away August 24, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by service, devotion and cherished companionship. 

Glenn graduated from Ecorse High School in 1950. He took great pride in being a member of the Ecorse High School Rowing Team. He and his crew were National Runner-up at the 16th Annual National Schoolboy Rowing Association American Championships in the Senior Eight-Oared Title Race. After High School, Glenn served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Graduating top of his class in gunnery school, he was stationed at Yokota Air Base, Japan; then was assigned as the tail gunner on the RB-45C aircraft. He flew numerous reconnaissance missions over the Soviet Union and China. Once Glenn’s military service had ended, he worked diligently at Great Lakes Steel for 42 years; working his way up to the position of Furnace Vessel Operator. Other notable accomplishments: he was a life Member as a Free and Accepted Mason at Trenton-Wyandotte 008, volunteering to raise money for Shriners Hospitals for Children, serving as a Deacon for the Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church. 

He found joy in many parts of life. Glenn and his beloved wife, Carol, enjoyed traveling around the world and were known for their love of ballroom dancing. He was involved with the American Legion Post #217, where he could be found playing cards; especially Euchre and Pinochle. 

Above all, Glenn treasured his family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carol (Glass) Miller. He also leaves his son Jayson Miller and Jayson’s wife, Debbie; his daughter Lisa Wood, and her husband, Brian; his granddaughter Lisa Renee Alley and her husband Matt; his grandson, Ian Wood and his great-grandson Liam Alley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom were part of the circle of family that meant so much to him. Glenn, the 13th of 15 children, was preceded in death by his father, Orrin Russell, his mother Bertha Loretta and all 14 of his siblings, Arthur, Orrin, Clarence, Howard, Harry, Richard, Don, Louella, Helen, Betty, BerthaLouise, Myra, Dorothy and Marion, their memory remained part of his life. 

Family and friends may gather for visitation on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. at The Allen Park Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., also at the Allen Park Chapel – Martenson Family of Funeral Homes.

Glenn will be remembered for his service, his loyalty, his enjoyment of simple pleasures, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His life leaves a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his memory will be carried forward with affection and gratitude.
