Gregory K. McPheter, a cherished and respected member of his family, passed away on October 30, 2025, at Corewell Health in Trenton, Michigan. Born on January 5, 1955, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Gregory grew into a kind and respectful man, known for his unique dry humor that brought joy to those around him.
He attended Judson College in Illinois, where he continued to foster his love for learning.
Gregory was not only an intellectual but also a passionate individual who loved war history and football, with a particular fondness for the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan teams.
Gregory leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Deborah, who stood by him through many walks of life. He was a loving father to his daughter Lesley (Jeremy) Bordt and took immense pride in his role as a grandfather. He is survived by his grandchildren, Anastasia and Aiden, who were a source of joy and laughter in his life.
He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Diane (Dean) and Ruth, along with nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many other loving family members and friends. Gregory's life was enriched by his loyal cat, Ginger, who shared his home for 21 wonderful years.
Gregory is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lavinia, and his brother, Richard (Jane) McPheter.
In keeping with Gregory's wishes, there will be no services. The family invites all who knew and loved him to celebrate his life in their own special way. His kind spirit and memorable humor will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Memorial contributions may be made as the donor chooses.
