Guy Joseph Couture
January 1, 1937 – October 26, 2025
Guy Joseph Couture was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, on January 1, 1937, and passed peacefully on October 26, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Michigan and made his home in Gibraltar with his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Anna Maria Couture.
Guy graduated from Wyandotte Roosevelt High School in 1954. In 1958, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, where fate led him to meet the love of his life, Anna Maria. Their marriage became the cornerstone of a lifetime defined by devotion, resilience, and unwavering love.
A strong, determined, and hard-working man, Guy always made his family his highest priority. He provided faithfully and instilled in his children the values of integrity, loyalty, and perseverance. Together, he and Anna Maria enjoyed many adventures, especially cruising and visiting their daughter in South Florida every year from 1993 to 2019.
Guy was deeply proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Anna Maria; his three children — Kurt Couture (Kim), Michelle Couture-Souvenir, and Michael Couture (Caryn); and seven grandchildren — Grace Ramakrishnan (Sahil), Claire Wenzel (Mark), Meghan Couture, Renee Souvenir, Annamaria Souvenir, Kyle Couture, and Cason Couture; as well as his great-grandson, Theo Ramakrishnan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elsie Couture, his daughter Renee Couture, and eight siblings.
In his later years, he became lovingly known as “Opa”, the German word for grandfather — a title he carried with pride and affection. Though expressing “I love you” never came easily to him, his family always knew how deeply he cared. His presence, humor, and quiet strength will be dearly missed, and his memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
