Howard R. Quick

Howard Rex Quick, of Taylor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on January 11, 1952, Howard was a man of deep faith, boundless knowledge, quiet strength, and endless creativity. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ruth Jean Simmons and Rex Lawrence Quick; and also his brother, Harold (Sonny) Lawrence Quick.

Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Finch; their sons, Alexander Shane Quick (Caitlin) and Austin Howard Quick; his cherished grandchildren, Eleanor Louise Quick and Tiberius Rex Quick; and also his brother, Leland Terry Quick (Nancy).

Howard was an artist at heart, a true “MacGyver” who could fix or build just about anything. A lifelong learner and voracious reader, he had an uncanny ability to find the right answer in a world before the internet, earning him the reputation of being the family’s living encyclopedia. His love of books, music, and faith shaped the way he lived and loved.

He was an active volunteer in his sons’ Boy Scout troop and especially loved going camping and hiking with them, always eager to share his appreciation for nature and adventure. These outdoor experiences remain some of the most treasured by his family.

Howard was also a devoted fan of science fiction and could often be found immersed in a favorite film or series. He loved board games and the laughter, strategy, and connection that came with gathering around the table with family and friends.

He was a Christian man who held firm to his belief in the Lord, with John 3:16 as his guiding verse: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His humor, especially his signature dad jokes, his quiet wisdom, and his kind heart will live on in the memories of those he leaves behind.
