Iva J. Thompson, née Trouten, passed away on October 29, 2026, at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. She was born on June 22, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan.

A woman who found joy in creativity, Iva loved crafting and enjoyed many kinds of crafts throughout her life. Her hands and heart were often busy making things, and that love of creating brought warmth to those around her. On February 13, 1958, she married her husband in Detroit, Michigan, beginning a chapter of family life that would remain at the center of her story.

Iva will be remembered with deep love by her children: Terry L. Thompson and his wife Debbie, Clyde Thompson, III and his wife Linda, her daughter Linda Johnson and her husband Dennis, Dan Thompson and his wife Mary Char, and Steve Thompson and his wife Beth. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, her sisters, Sharon Hamilton and her husband Archie, and Patricia Fite, her brother James Dwight Thompson  as well as many loving family and friends. The family she leaves behind carries forward the love, memories, and lasting bonds she nurtured over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Edward who died on November 2, 2021; she was also preceded in death by -her father, George William Trouten; her mother, Loretta Marie Trouten, née Chapert, her sister Veronica Faye Montayne and her brothers, David, John, and Nelson Trouten.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, Michigan 48101. The funeral service will follow there at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place afterward at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.

Iva’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and in the many quiet, meaningful ways she shared her care, her creativity, and her devotion to family.
